Business User Profile

The business User Profile may be used for a business or day care center.

On the application form for a card, the business or agency name and address go on the front of the form. Some person in the business or agency must sign the back of the form and agree to be responsible for all materials borrowed on the card. The responsible party must also sign the library card.

It is important to keep this information current. Each time a business has the privilege renewed, staff should check this information. If the person assuming responsibility changes, replace the old card with a new one to have that person sign it.

When entering the registration, enter the business or agency name on the Basic screen. Enter the name of the responsible party where you would normally enter the parent's name in the 3rd address section.

Collection

Collection will be used as a profile for those patrons who are long overdue and could or have been sent to the courts.  The Collection profile will not allow new charges, holds or checkouts.

Deposit User Profile (Not Used by Salem)

A Deposit User Profile may be used for an agency where the Bookmobile leaves a collection. The application should be completed as for a Business profile user.

OutOfArea User Profile

The Roanoke Area Public Library's service area includes the following: cities of Roanoke and Salem and the counties of Alleghany, Bedford, Botetourt, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Montgomery, Roanoke and Rockbridge. A resident of Virginia who does not live in one of these localities should be in the OutOfArea profile. There is no charge for the card.

Student Profile

A person who lives outside Virginia but who is a student at a local college or other educational institution such as College of Health Sciences may be issued a one-year card with no nonresident fee.

Temporary Profile

A person whose permanent residence is outside Virginia or does not have a permanent residence where they receive mail,  but who is a temporary resident of the Roanoke area for three months or less, may be issued a temporary library card. Temporary cards are good for three months and have a borrowing limit of 2 items.  Residents of Roanoke area shelters and substance abuse residential programs may be issued a temporary card.  These cards may be renewed after 3 months.

Temporary cards may be converted to regular cards if the cardholder establishes a permanent address in the Roanoke area and presents verification of that address.
